Judge Stephen I. Goorvitch has served on the Los Angeles County Superior Court since December 15, 2015. Judge Goorvitch is assigned Department 082, one of the three Writs and Receivers Departments, and is currently sitting pro tem in the Second District Court of Appeal, Division Two. Before joining the bench, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Central District of California, was counsel at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, clerked for Judge Rosemary S. Pooler on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and for Judge Nora M. Manella when she was a U.S. District Judge in the Central District of California, and worked U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in its Division of Enforcement. He holds a J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law, and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego.
